Jurassic World Rebirth: More Dinosaurs, More Danger, More Drama
Universal Pictures has released the final trailer for Jurassic World Rebirth, the upcoming dinosaur action-adventure film that’s set to open nationwide in theaters over the Fourth of July holiday weekend. Check out the latest Jurassic World Rebirth trailer above, and make sure to keep scrolling for all of our breaking details on the film, from its star-studded cast to some of the other new dinosaur species that fans will find in it.
Jurassic World: Rebirth will begin its run in theaters on July 2, 2025. Scarlett Johansson and Mahershala Ali star in the film, which will also feature a return to the location of the original Jurassic Park island research complex. Combining the look-and-feel of a blockbuster science-fiction adventure with an old-school “save-the-world” mission, Jurassic World Rebirth finds a covert operations team sent to one of the original “Jurassic Parks” to find genetic material for a revolutionary new drug. But when their mission is compromised by a tourist boat attacked by dinosaurs in the surrounding area, their world is turned upside down in more ways than one.
Jurassic World Rebirth is the fourth film in the Jurassic World series and the seventh overall film in the franchise that started with 1993’s Steven Spielberg-directed Jurassic Park. The film is directed by Gareth Edwards, who also helmed the 2014 big-screen adaptation of Godzilla. The screenplay is by David Koepp, who is reuniting with the franchise to write Rebirth after penning the original Jurassic Park film and its 1997 sequel, The Lost World.
The official synopsis for the film reads, “Five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion, the Earth’s ecosystem has become toxic to dinosaurs, forcing them to migrate to scattered equatorial bands of the globe that best resemble their ancient home. Isolated within one such biosphere—a vast, lush, and uninhabited jungle world—are the three largest dinosaurs of land, sea, and sky, each carrying a strand of genetic code needed to create a powerful new drug. Enter Zora Bennett (Scarlett Johansson), a clandestine operative charged with leading a mission to secure the code, before disaster strikes.”
Jurassic World: Rebirth stars Scarlett Johansson and Mahershala Ali. They are joined by Rupert Friend as Martin Krebs, Jonathan Bailey as paleontologist Henry Loomis, and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo as Reuben Delgado. The rest of Reuben’s family is played by Luna Blaise as his daughter, David Iacano as his son, and Audrina Miranda as his youngest daughter. Bechir Sylvain is also part of the mission team, while Ed Skrein and Philippine Velge have been cast in as yet unannounced roles.
While some new scenes and graphics can be seen in the new trailer, a majority of the footage is repurposed from the original teaser trailer that was released in February. That doesn’t mean that the trailer isn’t worth watching again, however, and the familiar footage from the first trailer is remixed to a bombastic orchestral score that combines both urgency and mystery. The trailer begins with a grim warning as a worker in a hazmat suit is trapped in a lab with a T Rex. He yells out in a voice distortion as he is eaten by the ravenous predator, and there’s nothing that can be done to save him. It sets the tone of the trailer and the film itself: pulse-pounding, adrenaline-fueled action, teeth-jarring thrills, and, of course, the signature dinosaur carnage.
Jurassic World Rebirth will also feature a major heist scene as Johansson and her team break into a Jurassic World Island facility to steal dinosaur DNA that could be used to synthesize a new drug. The trailer for the film confirms that there will be a major theft scene early in the film as they break into a secret Jurassic Park facility. As described by one character in the trailer, their mission will be to steal a pterosaur egg, likely a Quetzalcoatlus northropi. This massive pterosaur is described as “a flying carnivore the size of an F-16,” and, as far as CGI special effects go, this is one to watch for. The trailer also showcases many more dinosaur species beyond the raptors that are the flagship of the franchise’s menagerie. There’s also a brand-new aquatic dinosaur introduced in the film: the mosasaur.
Jurassic World Rebirth picks up in the prequel timeline five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion, so viewers will also have the opportunity to revisit the first major storyline from that film: the global aftermath of rampant dinosaur extinction. Characters on the boat in the film’s trailer note that certain zones were “seeded” with dinosaurs when their ecosystems collapsed, including the “equatorial bands” where certain dinosaurs, like the three seen in the trailer, have been able to survive. Dialogue in the trailer indicates that the team is headed for a secret Jurassic Park “seed island” that was used to house “the worst of the worst,” some of the most dangerous and ill-tempered dinosaurs that were ever cloned by the InGen corporation.

In addition to its on-the-ground missions and action sequences, Jurassic World: Rebirth also aspires to revisit some of the more scientific wonders that the original Jurassic Park films featured. With a central focus on the genetic engineering of an important new drug, the DNA-study angle returns. Rebirth also features a setting that hearkens back to the franchise’s origin, with its repurposing of the Jurassic Park research island as a key point in the film. Combining the look-and-feel of a blockbuster science-fiction adventure with an old-school “save-the-world” mission, Jurassic World Rebirth promises a major reset to the franchise, while building on the classic moments that made Jurassic Park so special to audiences in the first place.
Jurassic World Rebirth opens nationwide in theaters on July 2, 2025.
