Ontario Corps Expands Partnership Network with Bruce Power

The Ontario government has officially welcomed Bruce Power to Ontario Corps, expanding its network of partners and volunteers dedicated to helping communities during emergencies and disasters. This latest partnership aims to enhance Ontario's emergency response capabilities by utilizing Bruce Power’s resources, facilities, and expertise.

Bruce Power’s Role in Emergency Response

Bruce Power, recognized for its leadership in safety and preparedness, will support provincial emergency efforts before, during, and after incidents. During emergencies, and subject to availability, the organization may make its facilities, equipment, vehicles—including heavy machinery and specialized tools—and personnel available to help local response operations. Bruce Power will also leverage its network of contractors, suppliers, industry associations, and business partners to identify and source additional equipment and materials when needed. As part of its contributions, Bruce Power may offer emergency and incident management expertise, risk assessment, technical support, volunteer mobilization, and assistance with communications and stakeholder relations as required by the province.

Mobilizing Emergency Resources Quickly

The Ontario Corps network is designed to deploy within 24 to 72 hours to communities affected by emergencies, supplying much-needed personnel, equipment, debris removal tools, flood barriers, drones, and other critical resources. The partnership with Bruce Power strengthens this rapid-response capability, ensuring that both expertise and material support are available across Ontario when disasters strike.

Strengthening Ontario Corps’ Volunteer Network

Ontario Corps continues to encourage people from all skill levels and professional backgrounds to volunteer. Volunteers are given training and matched with partner organizations according to their abilities, interests, and availability. Bruce Power will also encourage its own staff to become emergency volunteers through Ontario Corps, further building the province’s capacity for disaster response and community support.

Growing List of Ontario Corps Partners

Bruce Power joins a diverse list of Ontario Corps partners, including the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario, The Home Depot Canada, Labatt Breweries of Canada, Niagara College, Ontario Chamber of Commerce, Ontario Mine Rescue, Ontario Road Builders’ Association, Ontario Stone, Sand and Gravel Association, Uber Canada, and Waste to Resource Ontario. Each partner brings specialized knowledge, resources, and networks to fortify the province’s emergency preparedness and response systems.

Advancing Emergency Preparedness and Management

Ontario’s commitment to emergency management is further underlined by the construction of a new, state-of-the-art Emergency Preparedness and Response Headquarters, which will become the future home of Ontario Corps. This upcoming facility will serve as the province’s 24/7 emergency command centre, equipped with advanced technology needed to coordinate complex disaster responses and protect Ontario’s residents year-round.

About Bruce Power and Its Commitment

Operating the Bruce Nuclear Generating Station in Bruce County, Bruce Power is committed to the safe, reliable, and environmentally responsible production of electricity. The company also prioritizes economic and social well-being across Ontario. Through its ongoing emphasis on safety, social responsibility, public preparedness, and community resilience, Bruce Power continues to work with partners to strengthen the province’s emergency management capabilities and support preparedness initiatives.
